9th avenue photography

Mr. and Ms. BIkini Open contest at some resort in Bulakan, Bulacan (sorry, I won't mention the resort's name - they're not paying me to! =)). Was tagged along by Athena, one of the contestants.

It was a balmy afternoon with threatening rainclouds but the skies didn't open so the contest went on, albeit 3 hours late. I've heard of Filipino time but Bulacan time? So me and my buddy Jake went out for a bite first and after enduring the slight traffic jam on the way back to the resort because of the Santacruzan, we still managed to arrive before the opening formalities of the contest.

Anyway, there were plenty of daring young ladies who were willing to strut their stuff on the makeshift runway made of plastic palettes. There was also the rave wear event in the middle of the swimsuit contest. I'm totally ignorant of what "rave wear" means so I was shocked (awed?) to see what they were (or were not) wearing. Oh, there were male contestants too, but didn't bother to take their pics. The female figure is the more than enough expression of beauty.

Strobist: Nikon D80 with 18-135mm DX kit lens, Nikon SB-600 on cam straight on the subjects. Didn't bother with the Lightsphere, it was too darned dark at the venue and my batteries were on their last legs.
